COLLISIONS: the second installment of Project606 Dance’s 5th season, Momentum, Impulse & Collisions.
This will be Project606 Dance’s first appearance in Chicago’s Hairpin Arts Center. This unique space fits nicely will Project606 Dance’s mission of finding and performing in nontraditional spaces! With its challenging triangular performance space and the city streets as backdrop, Project606 Dance will present its newest works!
COLLISIONS will feature two world premieres, both of which are the collaborative efforts. The first is by the collaborative duo behind Newfangled Dance, Hannah Ernest Requa (formerly of Project606) and Ericka Vaughn Lashley. There are rare moments in life when you make a connection with someone that is complex and easy all at the same time. You identify in a profoundly rich way. It’s shocking, it’s refreshing, it’s unexpected, It’s Newfangled. Ericka Vaughn Lashley and Hannah Ernest Requa founded this collaboration in January of 2013. They want the work they create to impress upon people in an innovative and memorable way. Their work, In spite of and because (a working title), simply put is about finding the space to collide.
The second is the first collaborative effort from Project606 Artistic Director, Meghann Mueller and Resident Choreographer Jenny DeMuth. Collisions occur when two or more objects hit each other. In this case it could be bodies, ideas, or choreographic styles. While the integrity of both DeMuth’s and Mueller’s voices can be distinguished, the intermingling of choreography creates some surprising and challenging dance!
