Opening Night! As part of Chicago Artists Month, the Artistic Bombing Crew (ABC) presents Permanent Record: Chicago Hip Hop Kulture, over 40 years of Hip Hop in Chicago, at the Hairpin Arts Center in Logan Square in October 2015.
Permanent Record presents, with a month-long run, the evolution of Chicago Hip Hop through an interactive exhibit displaying the elements of Hip Hop culture (graffiti, breakdancing, MCing, and DJing). ABC is one of the revolutionary graffiti crews to introduce the Hip Hop culture to Chicago in the early 80s. Permanent Record, curated by BBoyB, Flash, and Risk from ABC, with the Center for Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) at Columbia College Chicago, invite Chicago’s community to celebrate Hip Hop’s past and present.

Each weekend in October will be dedicated to one of the elements of Hip Hop (graffiti, breakdancing, MCing, and DJing). On Friday, October 9, there is an evening Cypher/Jam. Saturdays include panel discussions, workshops, and graffiti tours. All Saturday workshops and panel discussions are free. The Cypher/Jam has a $10.00 suggested donation. No one will be turned away for an inability to pay and all are welcome.
Moderated panel discussions of 4-5 hip hop practitioners will speak on their specific element of expertise. Guest artists will lead a series of workshops focusing on the themes of graffiti, breakdancing, MCing, and DJing. Graffiti tours lead by the Artistic Bombing Crew will follow each workshop in the afternoon. Space is limited.
